글자 수 세기란?

입력하거나 붙여넣은 텍스트의 전체 글자 수, 공백을 제외한 글자 수, 단어 수, 줄 수를 실시간으로 계산해주는 도구입니다. 자기소개서나 공모전처럼 분량 제한이 정해진 글을 쓸 때, 혹은 SNS 게시글이 한 번에 다 보이는지 확인할 때 사용합니다. 입력한 내용은 서버로 전송되지 않고 브라우저 안에서만 처리되므로 초안이나 개인적인 글도 안심하고 붙여넣을 수 있습니다.

같은 글이라도 기준에 따라 분량이 15~20%까지 차이 납니다. 한국어 문장은 대략 여섯 글자마다 한 번씩 띄어쓰기가 들어가기 때문입니다. 1,000자 분량의 글이라면 공백만 150자 안팎을 차지합니다.

• 공백 포함 — 자기소개서, 공공기관 서식에서 가장 많이 쓰는 기준입니다. 줄바꿈도 글자로 세는 곳이 있습니다.
• 공백 제외 — 원고료를 글자 단위로 계산하는 번역·집필 계약에서 흔히 쓰입니다.
• 단어 수 — 영어권 과제나 논문 초록에서 기본 단위입니다. 공백을 기준으로 끊어 셉니다.
