이 시계는 사용 중인 기기에 설정된 시간을 그대로 읽어옵니다. 따로 시각 서버에 접속하지 않으므로, 기기 시계가 어긋나 있으면 화면도 함께 어긋납니다.
대부분의 스마트폰과 컴퓨터는 인터넷 시각 서버와 자동으로 시간을 맞춥니다. 이 구조를 NTP(네트워크 시각 프로토콜)라 하는데, 최종적으로는 세슘 원자시계를 기준으로 삼습니다. 원자시계는 3천만 년에 1초 정도의 오차를 갖는 수준이라, 우리가 쓰는 표준시는 사실상 오차를 신경 쓸 필요가 없습니다.
다만 이 정확한 시각이 기기까지 오는 과정에서 네트워크 지연이 끼어들어 보통 수십 밀리초의 차이가 생깁니다. 일상에서는 전혀 문제가 되지 않는 수준입니다.
한국 표준시(KST)는 협정 세계시(UTC)보다 9시간 빠릅니다. 세계 시간대는 원래 경도 15도마다 한 시간씩 나뉘도록 설계되었지만, 실제 경계선은 나라별 사정에 따라 구불구불하게 그어져 있습니다.
한국은 현재 서머타임을 시행하지 않습니다. 과거 몇 차례 도입했다가 1988년 서울올림픽 이후 폐지되었습니다. 반면 유럽과 북미 상당수 지역은 여전히 여름철에 시계를 한 시간 앞당기므로, 해외와 화상회의를 잡을 때는 시차가 계절에 따라 한 시간씩 바뀐다는 점을 염두에 두어야 합니다.

The clock reads whatever time your device is set to. It doesn't contact a time server, so if your device clock is wrong, this display will be too.
Most phones and computers synchronise automatically over NTP, the Network Time Protocol, which ultimately traces back to caesium atomic clocks. Those drift by roughly one second in 30 million years, so the standard itself is effectively exact.
Network latency introduces a discrepancy of tens of milliseconds on the way to your device — irrelevant for any everyday purpose.
Korea Standard Time runs nine hours ahead of UTC. Time zones were designed to change every 15 degrees of longitude, though real boundaries wander considerably to follow national borders.
Korea does not currently observe daylight saving; it was tried several times and dropped after the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Much of Europe and North America still shifts clocks forward in summer, so when scheduling international calls remember that the offset changes by an hour with the season.
